"COMBAT CONTROL HISTORY | OPERATION JUST CAUSE | 20 DEC 1989, two combat controllers from the 1724th Special Tactics Squadron were 'FIRST THERE' when they were inserted via helicopter into Panama just prior to P-Hour. At H-hour minus 12 minutes, a four-man team of 3 CCTs and 1 PJ placed zone markers at the approach end of the intended runway. Two key airfields, Rio Hato Air Base and Tocumen International Airport, were captured simultaneously in the two largest mass tactical airdrops since World War II.
