"This one caught me by surprise. I had not looked at it in some time, BUT inventories as a share of sales have never been this high outside of recessions in the last 60-some years?! Now, we do need to acknowledge that inventories have played a smaller role in economic growth since the early 1980s when the Great Moderation kicked into gear. Still, they have been helpful as an indicator of the business cycle ... up until now anyway. It will be interesting to see if this plays a role this year. Hmmm. FT"
