"I am surprised at how many regional banks I have seen miss their Q4 earnings numbers in the last week. Granted these are mostly smaller regional banks, but I do wonder if there are longer-term consequences when the disappointment seems to be this broad?! The chart here shows that this is the worst earnings reporting season we have seen for S&P 1500 Financials in at least 8 years (when it comes to the erosion in the earnings estimates). This seems to be flying below the radar as all the attention is on Netflix (yesterday) and Tesla (today). Just something I am keeping my eye on. Happy Wednesday. FT"
